Ginosko Development Company (GDC) is a rapidly growing family of companies involved in all aspects of affordable housing development, construction, ownership and management. Although the organization was formed in 2002, the roots of its dedication to quality affordable housing reach back more than half a century. Founded by Amin Irving and John Hayes, Ginosko Development Company began by recognizing the growing demands of preserving and establishing affordable housing.

Our History

  • January 2015: Acquired 126 unit market rate multi-family apartment complex in Inkster,Michigan.
  • July 2014: Awarded 4% LIHTC reservation, $10.5 million in tax exempt bond financing, $4.2 million in HOME funds, and $1 million in MSHDA Preservation funds for a 150 unit mixed-income development in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
  • February 2014 Funding Round: Awarded $1,500,000 9% LIHTC reservation for 200 unit RAD deal in Ecorse, Michigan.
  • December 2013: Historic rehab of 47 unit apartment complex in Detroit, Michigan.
  • May 2013: Ginosko Development Company expands into larger office complex to accommodate for more growth.
  • December 2012: Awarded additional $1.75 Million in City HOME Funds.
  • August 2012: Admitted our new CFO, Mary Tischler, CPA, into the GDC group of companies as a business owner/partner.
  • June 2012: Awarded over $4 Million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.
  • May 2012: Purchased 10 Apartment Complexes throughout the State of Michigan.
  • December 2011: Purchased 305 unit apartment community in Detroit, Michigan.
  • December 2011: Awarded $3.0 Million in City HOME Funds.
  • June 2011: Awarded Enterprise Community Partners GREEN Grant.
  • December 2010: Awarded $20 Million in Neighborhood Stabilization Funds.
  • December 2010: Purchased another 100-unit high-rise in Chicago, Illinois.
  • December 2010: Purchased 100-unit high-rise apartment building in Chicago, Illinois.
  • December 2010: Awarded over $10 Million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.
  • December 2010: Award over $2.7 Million in Brownfield Tax Credit Equity.
  • August 2010: GDC purchased 225 units in Pontiac, Michigan.
  • March 2010: GDC purchased 71 units in Detroit, Michigan.
  • February 2010: GDC purchased 60 units in Ferndale, Michigan.
  • December 2009: GDC awarded over $3 Million in HOME funds.
  • December 2009: GDC awarded over $6.3 Million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.
  • October 2009: GDC awarded over $2.9 Million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds.
  • August 2009: GDC obtained site control over 60 units in Michigan.
  • November 2008: GDC awarded over $1.7 Million in City HOME funds.

  • September 2008: Amin Irving recognized as Crain’s Detroit Business Top 40 Business Person’s Under 40 Years Old (He was only 31).
  • April 2008: GDC obtained site control over two 100 unit apartment complexes in Chicago, Illinois.
  • April 2008: GDC awarded over $3.4 Million in Tax Credits.
  • November 2007: GDC obtained site control over a 71 unit apartment complex in Detroit, Michigan.
  • October 2007: Ginosko Development Company expands into larger office complex to accommodate for rapid growth.
  • February 2007: GDC successfully obtains nearly a Quarter Million from City Proceeds.
  • January 2007: GDC secured site control over a 60 unit property in Michigan.
  • November 2006: GDC closes a $6.25M deal to rehabilitate/own a 76 unit apartment building in the New Center Area of Detroit.
  • September 2006: Obtained $1 Million from the United States Department of Agriculture.
  • April 2006: GDC closes on a 30 Scatter Site Home project in Ohio totaling $5.34M.
  • December 2005: GDC received an award of $3,459,000 in Tax Credits.
  • May 2005: GDC secured site control over a 76 unit property in Detroit, Michigan.
  • September 2005: GDC received a reservation of over $2 Million in Tax Credits.
  • August 2005: GDC closes a $7.87M real estate transaction.
  • June 2005: GDC successfully implemented a 14% increase in rents increasing property value over $400,000.
  • June 2005: GDC was approved by HUD to decouple a 236(e)2 Interest Reduction Payments.
  • July 2004: GDC was awarded $200,000 in development proceeds.
  • September 2003: GDC obtained site control over its first property in Battle Creek Michigan known as Springview Tower, a 175 unit apartment complex.
